Generally set apart from a sentence by an exclamation point (or by comma when the feeling's not as strong).
A few years ago I bought 2 Schoolhouse Rock videos (Grammar and Multiplication Rock). I forgot I had them, and Cheburashka dug them up. They've been in heavy rotation this week- she especially likes Interjections. Call me sappy (hey, I heard that!), but I like My Hero, Zero.
There've been quite a few interjections (rats! darn! wtf?!?) this week. I still have no cable. I paid the past amount, plus the next bill, at a payment location instead of sending it online. The payment posted 2 days ago, yet still no service. I called today to learn that the payment center only sent in $25 of my payment. So I have to take a train and a bus out to the freakin' boonies, where the cable company's office is located, to show what I actually paid so I can have my service back.
I've got Spongebob withdrawal. If I'm not singing grammatical ditties, I'm singing Spongebob's striped sweater song:
The best time to wear a striped sweater is all the time.
One with a collar (turtleneck); that's the kind.
'Cause when you're wearing that one special sweater....
I gotta stop hanging out with five year olds.

You might want to cut back on the coffee, sweet.

Interjections is my absolute favorite Schoolhouse Rock song. That and "Sufferin' til Suffrage."
Well, Geraldine played hard to get, uh-huh-huh.
Geraldo knew he'd win her ye-het.
He showed his affection, despite her objections
And Geraldine hollered some interjections
(hey, you're kinda cute!)
I have not the five-year-old daughter excuse.

Oddly, we've got the same two vids on rotation at our house. We also listen to the history Schoolhouse Rock CD. Even though I loved the songs as a kid, I'm afraid the history Schoolhouse Rock has some serious errors of omission!

I'm going to have to take out my Schoolhouse Rock videos for my niece. I always loved "3 It's a Magic Number" and I can still recite the preamble to the constitution thanks to Schoolhouse Rock.

That's so funny. I was just at a playdate and one of the mom's was talking about the noun song. I've had "Unpacked My Adjectives" going through my head all day. Now I need to find our copies of the videos...

New coffeemaker. What can I say?
Em has an inner 5 yr old, y'all!
Cheb can count by 3's now. The adjectives song is pretty cool, too: he was a hairy bear, he was a scary bear....
I'd get the History version just for "I'm Just a Bill."

America Rock does not hold up so well now that I'm an adult with a more, um, nuanced view of american history. Still, if you want a visit with "Bill" you gotta get it.
Science Rock is wonderful too. I was just singing "I'm a machine, you're a machine, everybody that you know, you know, they're a machine. To keep your body going you need energy, for your high-powered, revved-up body machine..." with K-zilla yesterday.
My solution: I got the complete 2 disk set on DVD at half.com a while back and now we have them all!

Hey! I can ride a bike!
I used to sing "Interjections!" to my daughter while I washed her hair when she was 4 or 5. She learned it and we sang along together. This kept her mind off of not wanting to get her hair washed and made the task fun. Every once in awhile we will still sing it now--she is 12.
