Dame Surly-Bitch Knickertwist (of the New York Knickertwists) speaks

That would be me.

Trust me, be happy that I have not posted. Nothing earth-shattering, life-threatening, or polar-bear endangering. Just annoying. Very, very annoying.

I recently had to go to court (a-fucking-gain) and lost a day's pay clearing up someone else's screw up. My bank froze my account because some sleazy lawyer* told them to, and when I finally got a court date to contest it, the lawyer was all, oh- sorry. I presented the papers to the bank, who promised to clear it up in 24 hours; turns out the paperwork was never sent to the legal department, and the person handling it is "away." My account was frozen a month ago; fortunately, it happened two days after my rent & utility checks had cleared, or I would have been royally screwed.

Did I mention the bank has charged me $100 in legal fees? It was suggested that I sue the lawyer for loss of wages and to recoup the fee, but that would end up costing me more in legal fees and time off work. Sigh.

Other than that... I'm fine, Cheb is fine (and loving third grade), and the cats are still lazy moochers. I've been reading blogs but not commenting. I need to work on that, so as not to lose touch with people. *cough* Drafties *cough*

And in knitting news... Pomatomus is done. As in, never ever gonna finish done. I don't know how I knit the first sock with no problem, and keep screwing up the second. Sock, I guess I'm just not that into you. So I've moved on to a cardigan for Cheb in Koigu Kersti (a beautiful red-orange shade). I bought the yarn at Purl ages ago, and they had three skeins each in two different dye lots, so I'm alternating skeins. Kinda cool. If I knew where my camera was I'd take a photo, but for now I only have a sleeve and a half- I'm knitting in the round on dpn's and that takes me longer. But I do like knitting red/orange yarn with white dpn's on the subway: people look at you like, what the heck is that??

Posting is fun. I should do it more often.

* I should add: no, of course not all lawyers are sleazy. Why, some of my best friends.... And I am currently in my annual Maybe I Should Go To Law School phase. Which won't actually happen until I reach my Hey I've Won Lotto and Found a Reliable Babysitter!!1!! phase.

dating lawyers could also be helpful but a tad distasteful...

Oh, darlin...i'm so sorry you've had to deal with all this crap. It seems like there's something weird in the air, because many of my nearest and dearest are going through anxiety-making stuff like that which you describe. I just want to hide under the covers, but I don't think that'll go over too well with my kids. Sigh. See you soon, i hope?

That really sucks that you had to go court for some bogus -ish. Sorry about that, but at least they're getting it taken care of. It's great to hear from you regardless. Hope it gets better soon.

That title is killing me.

We shoulda been sisters. I going to make you my play sister. *lol*

Very sorry to hear you had to deal with courts and lawyers and banks!

My boyfriend is going through something similar and he's still trying to get it all cleaned up (since May).

I started something for my young one also. Maybe the posting bug will bite me in the ass and get me to update my blog also.

That totally sucks. And yeah, you should post more often. You have the computer! Put Cheb to bed and get on there!

Try to fight the bank...they can't charge you $100...threaten to close your account, I'm sure it's more important to keep your business than to keep your $100.

How can the bank charge *you* for legal fees when it was the lawyer's fault? LAME. You shouldn't even have to take the lawyer to court for that, s/he should just have to pay it as a matter of course.

small claims court. you do the paperwork. If sleazy man doesn't show up, then you automatically win.
