What next? Locusts?

So among other things (including a crappy week at work, and more craziness than usual on the subway), my cats have fleas. Fleas! On indoor cats!!

I suspect Cheb brought some home with her when she stayed with my sister, who has two dogs. They spent a lot of time in the dog park, and I think the fleas hitched a ride. I've never had to deal with them before, so I'm flabbergasted. We made a trip to the ginormous Petco and loaded up on anti-flea stuff. You know what's weird? Running that little flea comb through fur and coming up with a bunch of wiggly things. Ewww.

Today I washed pretty much everything washable. From what I understand, I'l be doing this for the foreseeable future, as these little fuckers lay billions of eggs and pop up repeatedly. Any ideas on how to get rid of them without gassing the apartment are welcome.

In other news... I think I figured out the root of my knitting slump. I'm sick of my yarn. I've been using only stash yarn for so long, I'm tired of seeing it. So I got some new yarn, and I'm zooming along on a vest (or possibly a cardigan- I'm winging it) in Uxbridge Tweed. Maybe one day I'll show a picture, but for now my camera is still missing. Maybe the fleas stole it.

No Rhinebeck for me.

Not this year. Can't do it... so I'm asking the entire knitblogger community to refrain from posting anything about Rhinebeck this year. Thank you.

Last week I conquered the might East River. Actually, I paddled around in a kayak with Cheb and a friend. It was fun, and I wish I'd known about it earlier. There are a few groups that sponsor free kayaking (in pretty much every borough). Google it.

After that, I had my first ride on the Roosevelt Island tram. Cute. Oh, and you people living in the tall buildings next to the tram? Buy some curtains.

Not much knitting: as I mentioned before, nothing's working out. I spent a lot of time on Ravelry yesterday and got some new ideas. I've finally finished reading War and Peace, which will free up my precious subway time- I do most of my knitting on my long commute. And maybe by the time I finish my next project, it will actually be sweater weather around here.

Randomocity

I haven't completed any knitting in a while. I'm using stash yarn, and I keep running out. I can understand Cheb outgrowing the project I planned years ago... but me???

Yesterday, on our subway ride from my sister's, Cheb skimmed and summarized my copy of War and Peace: "There was a war, but they stopped and then there was peace. Some girl named Natasha married somebody and they ate a lot of food." There you have it: Russian literature in a nutshell.

On a related note... there was a typo in the divorce judgement which stated that I was supposed to pay him child support. I spent the day in court, all is well. Funny thing: yesterday I finally sat down to watch a Netflix movie that has been sitting around for a week. Spike Lee's The 25th Hour. I got quite a shock when I saw the scene with the Russian mobsters. If you've ever seen that movie, you've seen Doofstoyevsky. I considered showing Cheb, but the scene takes a violent turn and she doesn't need to see that.

Yesterday it was like 99.9999 degrees and I wore a mock turtleneck. Today I went sleeveless and and it was quite windy. I'll never figure out how to dress for the weather.

I still can't find my camera. I've been so busy lately that instead of putting things away, I just kind of shove them anywhere they'll fit. Perhaps some spring cleaning to go with this springlike weather?
