Good thing we don't have a Human Resources Dept.
Because I'd be suspended and sent to sensitivity training for annoying my co-worker. I keep asking him to teach me ridiculous phrases in Dutch. I can now say "I'll put you in my sack!" and "I would never wear such a hat!" in Dutch.
This is what I do all day. It's almost like I want to be fired.
In other news, I should have expected this:
(A little unsteady at first, and then- whoosh!)
I think it's genetic. I couldn't get this kid interested in any other sport, and now it's all about ice skating. No more sleeping in on Saturday mornings for me. Dammit. The above pic was taken the day after Thanksgiving in Bryant Park. It was my first time on ice skates ever, and I only fell on my ass once. Down coats make great padding.
I knocked out a couple of projects (a quickie cardigan for myself, and a Noro jacket for Cheb)- but I haven't taken photos yet. I should get on that. The annual Christmas Chrapathon is on- the first is Shedir in Rowan Yorkshire Tweed, for one of my sisters. She asked for it, so I have no problem blogging about it. And it's not like I need to make excuses for my (dwindling) stash, but is it not teh coolest thing evar that I can dig around and find the perfect yarn (that matches her coat) in my closet?
Is it not? I think it is.

I love ice skating. Haven't done it in years. OK if I tag along one day?
I used to know the idiom for "I'm stuffed" in Dutch--something disgusting about being able to stick one's finger inside one's mouth and touch the food...I say you ask about that one next.

I'm a really lame skater, but I like going anyway because it makes me laugh myself stupid. Of course, the kids are both total naturals. We should try to do that together some time!

I can say, "my vacuum cleaner is full of eels" in Swedish.

Ice skating has a high potential for a knitted wardrobe. I see a very hectic knitting schedule in your future.
When you start asking your co-worker to translate Dutch knitting patterns, then you will get fired.

Cheb's skating? FANTASTIC! I've been skating since I was 10. At 13, I joined the speed-skating club at the 110th st rink, and that was that!
I still skate, so if you need a break, I'd be more than happy to take her; just holla!

Is the rink in Brooklyn at Parkside Ave. in Prospect Park still open? I used to skate there and it was open on Christmas, too.
