Ow, FO, and Whoa!
So. Cletus did not remove my toof... that will be done next week. Possibly by Brandine. But since I was expecting some pain this week, I went and sprained my ankle.
Today I'm hobbling around on crutches- which sucks in so many ways. Not least of which is that you have to learn how to walk with crutches- you can't just grab'em and go. Your body wants to walk normally. I keep forgetting to use them and nearly tip over.
Indoors, I just use one. I hobble* over to do something** set it aside, forget it, and start walking away without it and OWWWW! I have to take the subway tomorrow; that should be interesting.
Anyways, the first FO of 08:
Gretel, by Ysolda Teague. I saw Cassie's and had to make one. Cheb has claimed it, so I'll make another for myself. I love the pattern-it was super quick, using Ballybrae and #7 needles.
Oh, and that co-worker of mine? The one I pick on all the time? He just returned from Germany and brought back this:
He doesn't realize that rewarding my bad behavior with sock yarn will only encourage me. This is Opal Rainforest (colorway Veronica the Wild) and Opal Hundertwasser, colorway unknown, and I will not hobble over to look it up. It's quite bright, and I love it. People have been raving about this and I didn't quite get why, but now I see.
* love that word. hobble.
** I'm supposed to be resting this leg, but I can't just sit still. Must. Do. Stuff. You'd think this would be prime knitting time, but nooo.

In sympathy, I think I did something to my sciatic nerve. It's OK now, but Friday night I could barely walk. And yes, I do feel old, thank you. I hope the subway is OK tomorrow. Crutches suck.
Gretel is beautiful.

mmmm....opal.
Need a referral to a good PT? Take care of that ankle. I do worry about what this will mean to your ice dancing career.

Beautiful hat! That's a good co-worker to bring back Opal.

I'm sorry did you say Brandine? It just gets better and better.
That hat is supercute and if you're not careful, I might claim the second one you make. It's not like you can run after me or anything. :)

You know, when I'm not feeling good, I have the urge to DO STUFF too. I have this overwhelming urge to clean stuff when I should be lying down.

Oh dear! That seriously blows. I'm so sorry you have to deal with the subway. I only hope that you can travel a little later (or earlier) than all the Wall Street-bound maniacs who would likely shove you out of the way if you were in the middle of giving birth. Sorry if that seems overly misanthropic. It's been a helluva morning. Feel better! I love your Gretel! Cheb has splendid taste!

Ouch! Is this the old trick of hurting your ankle so you won't think about the pain of the toof? Feel better NOW! : ) BTW - I love the mannequin. Is she new? Does she have a name? I think she needs a name. The hat is fabu - but she looks even more fabu wearing it. Happy knitting and recovering. Be well.

Crutches are wack; they make you feel SO SLOW. I'm sending out good vibes for a speedier recovery.
In the meantime, your hat is fabulous! Gee, I don't even want to put up the cheesy little hat I made. It's warm though.
