A touch of class

That's what I need. A tiny bit of elegance, of sophistication.

This morning, after a huge train delay, I got out of the subway and went straight for the coffee cart. A homeless guy scooted in line ahead of me, and I got on my cell to see if my coworker wanted anything. I then noticed that the homeless guy was wearing pink pants. Then I realized the homeless guy was wearing no pants. I went to the cart across the street for my coffee.

That is why I had to cleanse my emotional palate by watching this video. Because I need a dose of ladylike grace, which is apparent at the 25 second mark:

Now that's how a true lady makes her entrance.

Back to reality

I'm home again. We arrived Saturday night and couldn't sleep because apparently we were still on LA time. On Sunday we ran some errands, and were kinda grumpy about having to ride the subway. We both missed being driven everywhere.

We were also not happy about leaving 80 degree weather for 50 degree weather. And rainy, at that.

Monday morning, back to the usual grind: school for Cheb, work for me. But, dammit, we had fun. More pictures and commentary to come.

SPACE MOUNTAIN!!!!

I'm still recovering, so I don't have much more to say right now.

Show I'll just show you how excited I was.

But I have to say again, for the record:

SPACE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Santa Universal Studios

What? Doesn't everything start with Santa around here?

I'm whipped. First, we started with breakfast at Bob's Big Boy:

Then we were dropped off at Universal Studios. It was nuts. I am soooo tired right now. I don't plan on doing anything tomorrow. Not a damn thing. If this place wore me out, Wednesday is gonna destroy me. I need to rest up. maybe tomorrow I'll upload the bazillion photos on to Flikr.

I'll leave you with this:

Santa Barbara

We drove up to Santa Barbara yesterday, which is an absolutely cute place. Cute has become my catchphrase here. My daughter is starting to complain about my overuse of the word.

We walked along the main  drag straight to the pier (after having aThai lunch), where we rented a surrey/deathbike and my legs are still aching. Cheb enjoyed it:

We also drove up through Los Padres National Park to Solvang. Absolutely gorgeous views over the valley, but a little scary driving through those winding roads. Solvang was pretty, but I'm pissed off. You know what you did, Solvang.

I would really love a day of rest after that whirlwind weekend. But on today's itinerary is the opposite of rest. Unnhh.

Santa Monica pier

We're here. And we covered a hell of a lot of ground in one day, driving throughout Los Angeles (Beverly Hills! Rodeo Drive! Hollywood! Studio City!!). I woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday.

Today we're driving further north up the coast. LA is beautiful, but I'm a bit disappointed in the weather. It was warmer in NY yesterday than here- but the sun did come out as we hung out in Santa Monica.

I don't drive, but lucky where I'm staying is close to the buses (which cannot go below 50 mph or they will explode, according to this documentary I saw called Speed). While my friend is at work, we'll do a little bit of travelling on our own. Until Wednesday, when she's playing hooky from work so we can go to Orange County. Anaheim. We're speaking in code so that Cheburashka doesn't catch on. Wink, wink.

Going back to Cali. To Cali. To Cali.

I'm off on my first vacation in three years. I'll be living large in Los Angeles. Perhaps not so large. But I'll be there.

Catch ya later!

I think one of my cats exploded.

I dunno what happened. I was on the couch, attempting to give Babykitty a pill. She resisted a little, and spit it out a couple of times. After the third try, there was loud growl/scream, a burst of grey fur, and I somehow ended up on the floor with a bloody gash across my nose and punctures in my legs.

I haven't seen her since. There is some wild growling beast under my bed, though. I'm scared to look.

Halp!

I'm stuck in jury duty. At least they have computers!
